Dr. Jiawei "Jenny" Zhao, M.D., is a board-certified oculoplastic surgeon at Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center who specializes in the medical and surgical management of oculofacial conditions. Her specific interests include eyelid malposition correction, eyelid lifts, removal of benign or malignant eyelid tumors, periocular and facial reconstruction, treatment of tearing disorders, and orbital diseases including thyroid eye disease and orbital tumors. Dr. Zhao is also interested in facial rejuvenation and performs cosmetic upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, brow lifts, Botox® injections and facial fillers.
Dr. Zhao attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for her medical school training. Subsequently, she completed Ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. This was followed by a distinguished 2-year fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center offered through the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). This highly competitive fellowship is exclusively dedicated to training in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, orbit, lacrimal (tear drainage) system, and upper face.
Dr. Zhao is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters, and serves as a reviewer for multiple journals, including JAMA Ophthalmology, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Orbit.
Dr. Zhao enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include traveling, hiking, skiing, baking and aerial yoga.
